Being a military spouse and Newborn Family Photographer I have the honor of meeting so many amazing families, many of which serve in our military. It’s a bittersweet honor because sometimes there is someone very important missing from the photos. Kelsey reached out to me about newborn family photos during her pregnancy but we knew it may be a little hard because her husband was going to have very limited time at home before returning overseas.
Unfortunately we weren’t able to do their session while he was home so they were going to wait, but a few weeks later I needed a baby model and instantly knew I had to ask if they wanted to come into the studio. I couldn’t let them go without this time in their lives being photographed, even if a big part of their family was missing. And as a fellow military spouse and Mama, I know just how hard (and sometimes weird) it can be to something like this when Daddy isn’t with us. But it was such a sweet, sweet session. Kelsey is an amazing Mama, so incredibly strong, and these two littles absolutely adore her!
Baby Austin decided he was hungry right as we were about to start his newborn session. So while Mama fed him, me and big sister, Ella, had a little fun playing on the bed and with one of our studio chairs. While the newborn session is more focused around baby, I always look for opportunities to make the older siblings feel special too.
Kelsey – thank you so much for coming into the studio for Austin’s newborn session and sharing your precious kiddos with me. I wish you all the best of luck in your new adventure and hope the military allow us to cross paths again soon!
